TORRONE - Italian Nougat Candy (7 oz .slice)

Our Torrone is a delicate sweet nougat candy made up of slightly roasted almonds and pistachio nuts, typical of southern Italy-Sicily. Whether chopped or whole the nuts are held together by a mixture of honey, sugar and egg whites. The honey and sugar are thickened, the stiffly beaten egg whites added until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy. All is cooked gently over low heat. When the cooking process is over the roasted almonds are added and eventually the mixture is taken out, molded, split into bars and wrapped up in our cellophane bags.
